We kicked off our Carnival Jubilee cruise with a smooth travel day from Houston’s IAH Airport to Galveston, complete with a helpful Uber ride, a quick tour of baggage claim and the cruise shuttle area, and an essential stop at Bucky’s for snacks (jerky and cherry sours, of course!). We wrapped the evening with a stay at Residence Inn and dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse using a Landry’s birthday reward. If you’re planning a cruise out of Galveston, follow along for tips on airport navigation, Uber logistics, and where to grab a great meal before setting sail.

We just boarded the Carnival Jubilee and got our first look at our balcony cabin—and it did not disappoint! From thoughtful touches like USB ports by the bed and a spacious shower with a real door (no curtain!), to plenty of closet space and a private balcony perfect for two, this room feels like a great home base for the week. We also had a few surprises—like no life jackets in the room and a happy discovery of the ironing room! Check out our full video walkthrough for all the details and first impressions.

During our recent cruise on the Carnival Jubilee, we stopped by Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse BBQ for lunch—and we’re glad we didn’t give up when it looked closed! The food is served outside, and while the setup might be easy to miss, the brisket, pulled pork, and sides made it worth the hunt. We give the meal a solid 7.5 to 8 out of 10, with standout flavors in the brisket and chicken. Whether you’re a barbecue fan or just curious about what’s offered on board, Pig & Anchor is worth a try.

After disembarking from our cruise at Port Canaveral, we made the most of a few extra hours by heading to Magic Kingdom before our flight home. We share helpful tips for finding your rental car shuttle, navigating a surprise flight cancellation, and making the most of a short Disney visit. With low wait times thanks to an early park closing for a party, we rode Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, hopped on TRON Lightcycle / Run, and enjoyed a classic funnel cake before racing to the airport. It was the perfect way to end our vacation on a high note!
